According to the Directive, key roles in reducing emissions from buildings are played by the use of renewable energy sources for heating and cooling, the renovation of buildings to lower their energy consumption, and the development of infrastructure for sustainable mobility. The Directive will therefore affect virtually everyone—from developers to building owners. An overview of the specific obligations introduced by this Directive is provided below (in Czech only).

On May 28, 2024, the European Commission's Directive on the Energy Performance of Buildings (EPBD) 2024/1275 (the "Directive") came into force.
