HR Executive
I currently work as an HR Executive at Clifford Chance and in this position, I take care of HR processes across the firm and for many candidates, I am one of the first people they meet during the recruitment process.
My journey at Clifford Chance began in 2020, when I joined while studying Adult Education and Personnel Management at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University. Although I initially started in a front desk role, I was from the outset given the opportunity to support HR-related tasks alongside my responsibilities.
In 2021, I transitioned to the HR team as an HR Assistant where I was given the space to contribute, learn and gradually take on more responsibility. This allowed me to grow within the firm and, in 2023, progress to the role of HR Executive. Looking back, I really value the opportunity to grow within the firm while still studying. Clifford Chance supported my development from the very beginning, which made it possible for me to gradually build my career here.
My advice
Trust your gut. It might sound a bit cliché, but if you really listen to yourself, you usually know what feels right and what you truly want to do. Being more intentional about how you think about yourself, and taking time for introspection, can help you understand better what matters most and guide your next steps.
Life at Clifford
What I enjoy most is that no two days are the same. I may start the day with a clear plan, but it often shifts as new and unexpected tasks come up. It makes the work dynamic and requires a high level of adaptability, which helps me grow and develop much faster – even if it can be very challenging at times.
Learning and key skills
Many people think HR is only about people and making them happy. While listening actively and understanding what is happening across the firm is indeed essential, it is equally important to approach these situations strategically – considering what they mean for the business.
What I find especially valuable is the opportunity to learn from more senior colleagues and to develop new perspectives every day. No two situations are the same, and each requires considering multiple factors and reflecting on the broader context. This constant exposure challenges me, broadens the way I think, and helps me grow both professionally and personally.
Looking at my own career path, it is evident that Clifford Chance offers real opportunities for growth – it’s just about being willing to take them and make the most of them.
The best thing about my job
What I really enjoy is seeing the tangible results of the work we do in HR. For example, being able to follow the careers of those who join us and watch them grow – seeing that they are in the right place and making an impact.
Culture and environment
The environment here is high-performing and challenging, and it is not for everyone. In this industry, work and life often overlap, and the boundaries are rarely strict. Yet, the collaborative environment and the fact that no one is left on their own make it a real pleasure to work here. You always have the support of your colleagues. Considering the serious nature of the work we do, it’s great that we can still be informal and enjoy a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Our team is relatively close in age, many of us are actively involved in sports, and we share a good sense of humor.
